Christian Artist and American Idol contestant Mishavonna Henson has a fan you might not expect: Teen pop idol Debbie Gibson. Gibson was a popular singer in the 80's and early 90's and is known for such hits as "Only in My Dreams" and "Foolish Beat."
On her blog, Gibson raves about Mishavonna: "Mishavonna is a superstar vocalist, musician and a sweetheart and we here at Electric Youth are so proud of her!!! Go get 'em Mishavonna!!!" Mishavonna attended Gibson's Electric Youth music camp last summer.
Mishavonna recently made it to the "Top 36" on American Idol. As an American Idol Finalist, Mishavonna will now sing to a national audience from Hollywood.
Mishavonna attends South Coast Christian Assembly in San Juan Capistrano, California. Mishavonna won First Place in the Female Vocal Solo Category at the 2008 Assemblies of God Fine Arts Festival. "I give God all the Glory," she said of her Fine Arts win.
"This is a dream come true," she said of her win on American Idol. It was also a dream come true for her mother Natassia, who is reportedly closely involved in Mishavonna's career, "We all feel so blessed that Mishavonna has gotten this far...it has been a Dream come true!"
