Pray For Abby

Christian News: Prayer Requests

We have been following -- and praying for -- little Abby Riggs, a little girl adopted from Guatemala who was diagnosed with an agressive and high risk form of Leukemia. To make matters worse, she has a genetic marker that makes her more likely to have toxic effects from her necessary chemo.

For those who have not been following her story, here is a video with some background information.

She was supposed to begin her next round of chemo on Tuesday but this will have to be delayed because of sores and the wound around the site of her tube. She has been in excruciating pain, which is now being addressed by morphine.

If you haven't had a chance to visit the Riggs family blog and start "Praying For Abby" click here. Here are the latest prayers requests from the Riggs:

  • For great pain relief
  • The sores to heal
  • The wound on her stomach to heal quickly
  • Relief from diarrhea (the canker sores in her intestines have caused this)
  • For Abby to resume chemo soon
  • Remain cancer free

Through it all, Abby's parents are showing incredible courage and strength. In fact, their latest post -- apparently meant to encourage their readers -- is a video called the "Cancer Dancer."

Their point seems to be that if little Abby can smile and dance in her circumstances, so can you. Point taken, Riggs family!
